Salute the Sun Yoga is a Charlottesville-based boutique yoga studio offering small class sizes, alignment-based and intuitive sequences, and a deep connection to our students. We're a tight-knit community that welcomes all levels, bodies, and practices.

About our classes   (rated by intensity:  🔥)
  • Core Vinyasa: This class is a gently heated vinyasa with a strong emphasis on core, balance, flexibility and mobility. Modifications will be cued so all levels are welcome to attend. 🔥🔥🔥
  • Vinyasa: This class accessible to all levels.  Beginners welcome.   Warm vinyasa is a sequence of physical postures that are connected in a creative way linked to the rhythm of the breath. Sequencing will vary with instructor. This class is 60 minutes long and the room is heated between 82-86 degrees.  🔥🔥- 🔥🔥🔥
  • Hot Pilates Burn: Hot Pilates BURN is an energizing fusion of hot Pilates and barre, designed to ignite your muscles and power up your core. In this high-intensity, full-body workout, you'll experience dynamic Pilates sequences and barre-inspired moves that create deep muscle engagement, enhancing strength, flexibility, and endurance. Set in a heated room at 90 degrees, Hot Pilates BURN turns up the intensity, maximizing total body transformation and promoting a serious sweat detox. Come ready to push your limits, feel the burn, and leave with a sense of accomplishment and a powerful, refreshed body. Perfect for all fitness levels, Hot Pilates BURN will challenge you, inspire you, and keep you coming back for more! 🔥🔥🔥🔥
  • MELT- A Mid Day Release:   You deserve a mid day break.  This non heated class, created by owner, Shannon Burns, is a combination of deep stretch, myofascial release, meditation, and breath work.  🔥
  • Power Vinyasa:   Power Flow classes are our specialty! Expect some sweaty work, followed by a deep rest.  This is a practice that moves you from pose to pose and asks you to test your physical, mental, and spiritual limits so you can make transformations on and off your mat. We heat the room so your muscles will warm up and your body will experience the benefits of a good sweat. As we progress through the practice, you will be challenged to find your edge and step beyond to someplace new.  The room is heated from 87-92 degrees. 🔥🔥🔥🔥
  • Power Sculpt:  Power Sculpt is a yoga & HIIT fusion class. We add weights, cardio bursts, and dynamic exercises into our vinyasa flow to tone the entire body. Think lunges, shoulder presses, squats, & more.
    We set the flow to a high energy playlist.  Come to class prepared to sweat, get your heart
    rate up, release endorphins & grow stronger with every class! 🔥🔥🔥🔥

  • Slow Flow:  Slow Flow is a gentle yet intentional practice that blends breath with movement at a relaxed, meditative pace. This class is designed to help you cultivate mindfulness, build strength, and enhance flexibility while moving through a thoughtful sequence of postures. With an emphasis on smooth transitions and deep, controlled breathing, Slow Flow allows you to find balance, release tension, and fully connect with your body. Perfect for all levels, this class offers a grounding and rejuvenating experience, whether you're new to yoga or looking to slow things down. 🔥
  • YinYasa: This heated Vinyasa / Yin yoga class is an all levels class. The room is heated to around 80 degrees.  The class begins with a Vinyasa Flow to warm up and then transitions to a relaxing Yin practice.
    With the best of both yoga worlds, you will leave relaxed, refreshed and balanced.
    All levels, and beginner friendly. 🔥
  • Yin: Yin Yoga consists of long held postures to bring a deep release of the connective tissue, increasing flexibility and range of motion. These poses get deeper into the joints, not the muscles. The room is warmed between 78-82 degrees.  🔥
  • Yin to Release:  This class will guide you through yin yoga postures and myofascial release techniques to increase circulation and improve flexibility.  Each class will have a different target area and all are suitable for both beginners and experienced yogis.  In this class you will learn the basic concept and techniques of Yin + myofascial release:  a beautiful blend of manual therapy using balls and Yin yoga practice.
    This class will take you into a deep body, mind, emotion awareness journey while experiencing physical and energetic releases.  We will use a variety of props including straps, Yoga Tune Up  and blocks to help open the body in a supported way.  All levels welcome! 🔥

  • Yoga Lab:  Yoga Lab is an alignment based practice that seeks to elevate your understanding of yoga postures as it applies to each individual. Expect to work slowly and deeply toward a particular pose, class of poses, or key action in the body. Ample modifications as well as options to advance will be explored.
    Each week we will explore a new pose and multiple variations, or work on a specific area of the body (hips, shoulders, etc). This class is accessible to all levels.  🔥🔥

  • Yogalates (Yoga + Mat Pilates):  Yogalates is the perfect fusion of yoga and Pilates, combining the mindful flow and flexibility of yoga with the core-strengthening and toning benefits of Pilates.  This dynamic class emphasizes breath, alignment, and controlled movement to help you build strength, improve posture, and increase flexibility—all while cultivating a sense of balance and calm.  Whether you're a yogi looking to boost your core or a Pilates enthusiast seeking more stretch and flow, Yogalates offers the best of both worlds in one energizing and grounding session. 🔥🔥🔥
